The modern librarianship is shaped by a diverse,
highly skilled, and qualified workforce that is better equipped
to uphold and advance the profession’s fundamental principles.
Users of today interact with technology in an environment that
is characterized by rapid innovation, strong teamwork, and
unparalleled individual contribution via digital media such as
social media and e-publishing. Because of the impact of
emerging technologies, libraries have seen substantial changes
in terms of resources and services in recent years. Technology
is growing more and more interwoven with society as it
continues to evolve.
The way we live, work,
study, and communicate is changing as a result of the Internet,
World Wide Web, mobile phones, digital television, and many
other new electronic information and communication technologies
(ICTs). Will the way we manage our lives be impacted by
technology, and how will it impact the management of libraries?
The employment of new,
cutting-edge technologies in libraries is one of the biggest
developments we anticipate. An international conference has
been contemplated to address information services supply for
the next generation libraries in the context of emerging
library technologies, taking into account these advancements
and their effects on libraries.
The 8th I-LISS International Conference 2024 on
“Exploring Information Services and Library Technologies for the
Next Generation" is being organized by I-LISS (Headquarters) in
association with the SRM Institute of Science and Technology and
international organizations. The conference will be held in the
hybrid mode(physical / online) at the University Central
Library, SRM IST, Kattankulathur Campus, Chennai, Tamil Nadu,
India, from July 19–20, 2024, to give participants options and
enhance event flexibility.
